I would ask about the reasons that avoiding Javascript was made a priority 1 guideline in the W3C work? My understanding is that point 6.3 says to avoid the use of scripts or when they are used to be sure to provide equal alternatives. How much of a problem Javascript is can be hard to guess. I know that when I and others raised the issue of it being used on the CSUN page, a problem that has since been corrected, I received email from 10 presenters who told me they couldn't access their papers because of this.
